Sunflower seeds. 1.3.2011

These are only half of the seeds we harvested.
We did our harvesting straight away before the sun got so hot.

Tyrese was here for his school visit.
Look at the pile we got from each flower head.

We really had to dig in with our fingers.

Harvesting the sunflower seeds a week after we picked the seed heads. It was fun but we got really sticky fingers. We are going to dry our seeds on the desk. After that we are going to store them in envelopes and put them away and we are going to plant them again next spring to see if they will grow. If they do grow we will have lots of sunflowers next year and we might be able to sell you some seeds. We won't know if it has worked till we plant them. Maybe some future business men and woman are in these pictures.

  1. It is good to see that room 2 teachers and students are working as hard as ever. I went past the garden on Monday afternoon and was very impressed with how tidy it looked. Well done - keep up the good work. I bet that you are also working hard in class and at swimming too.
