Lettuce from our garden 15.11.10

The last two waiting for those yummy lettuce sandwiches. Taliah and Enya.
Joshua is ready to munch and look at Rayden's big bite.
Taine's Mum didn't believe that Taine had tried a lettuce sandwich. Look at that big bite.
Eve-Ellen munching away.

You could have white bread or brown bread with marmite if you wanted or just plan lettuce.

Waiting for lunch.
Mrs Mortensen was trying to hide. In the background you can see our gardening patch at the end of the senior classrooms.

Isn't it amazing we had 21 children around that little table.

Codey is off to wash his lettuce.

Rayden had worked out we needed to pull off some of the leaves that we couldn't eat.
Jazlyn is off to wash the lettuce for our sandwiches.

Chloe is showing you the roots on the lettuce that were in the ground.Mr Mortensen is starting to harvest our lettuce.

Room two went out to check our garden and we were really excited to finally have something that we had grown all by ourselves ready to eat. Everyone helped by pulling out some weeds while we waited. Some of the children washed the lettuce so it was safe to eat. We found some ants on some of the leaves and didn't want to eat them. Everyone of our class tried our sandwich. Guess what Mum's and Dad's most of them ate that special sandwich because it wasn't ordinary lettuce. It was home grown!

Joshua's baby chicks. 15.11.10

It was fantastic to be able to hold these soft little birds. They certainly made a loud noise.
Here is Joshua holding one of the baby chicks.

Joshua brought these lovely baby chickens from his farm.

Harold comes to visit 12.11.10

Harold from the Life Education Trust came for a visit on Friday. It was an exciting day for us as room 5 had just returned from camp. Harold promised he would come back for a visit. Isn't it great when people keep their promise.

Discovery time week 5.

Believe it or not but the milk bottle tops had changed into fish.

A great day weather wise for water play.

Putting some more water in for water play.

Ben, Tyler and Codey at the back were using the flag pole for their imaginary play.

Sitting in the shade using our imaginations.

Shavana has made Mrs Mortensen a long black and in the pail is her chocolate cake.

The sandpit cafe in action.

Codey, Jorja and Rayden in the shade.

Fishing.
Mrs Rehu helping with the water play.

Jamie and Chloe.

Enya, Eve-Ellen and Chloe transforming themselves.

Blow thoes bubbles Laurel.
What a wonderful day rooms two and three had at discovery time. The weather was fantastic.

week 5 Term 4 2010

Jorja brought her snowwhite princess she got from the supermarket. You can change her clothes and she has bright red high heeled shoes.
Taine brought his bright yellow Bumble Bee transformer that you can change into a car.

Anthony's brother Jimmy climbed a very tall tree and got this bird nest down. Jimmy is only four years old. He and Anthony love climbing trees. Anthony also showed us his trapdoor spider he found.

blowing bubbles 3.11.10

Go Mrs Forbes show us how it is done!
Great bubbles Karen.

Poor Karen's bubble popped.

Ella what wonderful bubbles you made.

Jump Rayden or you will pop the bubbles. I wonder if they caught that bubble on the grass?
How big was the bubble Anthony?

Blow really hard Codey.
Room 2 had a great start to the day. We called the roll and then we went outside and all took turns blowing bubbles. We are learning how to be kind to each other and share. Then we went inside and wrote about what we did.

Our garden 2.11.10

look at that big weed Ashton has pulled out. Well done we don't want that in our garden.
You can see one of our Zucchini/Courgette plants waiting to go into the ground. We put in two a yellow one and a green one. Rayden planted the green one.

Mrs Olsen our teacher's aid helped us weed and plant our tomatoes, sugar snap peas and Zucchini plants. Next week our lettuce will be big enough to harvest.
