Sunflower seeds. 1.3.2011

These are only half of the seeds we harvested.
We did our harvesting straight away before the sun got so hot.

Tyrese was here for his school visit.
Look at the pile we got from each flower head.

We really had to dig in with our fingers.

Harvesting the sunflower seeds a week after we picked the seed heads. It was fun but we got really sticky fingers. We are going to dry our seeds on the desk. After that we are going to store them in envelopes and put them away and we are going to plant them again next spring to see if they will grow. If they do grow we will have lots of sunflowers next year and we might be able to sell you some seeds. We won't know if it has worked till we plant them. Maybe some future business men and woman are in these pictures.

Christchurch 12.51 pm 1.3.20011

The children at Foxton Beach School remember all those who have lost their lives in the Christchurch earthquake one week ago. We held two minutes silence and thought of everyone down in the South Island.

Room's two and six gardening 25.2.11

Room Two and Six started to clean up all our garden's ready to plant out for a new year. We pulled out all our sunflowers and will harvest the seeds this week. We weeded all the patches. Everyone thought it was great fun and look at our neat new sunhats keeping us all safe from the hot sun.

Fantastic fun teachers at Foxton Beach School

Georgia was giving Miss Keast lessons on how to use the Hula Hoop.
Go Miss Keast you are a star.

We had an awesome assembly on Friday and Mr Baker showed us some neat science experiments.
We had to have the lights off so we could see the fantastic results.

Mr Baker was getting us all excited about our science fair that we will have next term.

Foxton Beach School is so lucky to have these enthusiastic teachers making learning and playing so much fun. Friday was a fun day at our school. It was one of our best assembly's we have ever had.
